The Alma Sprint
In 1982, Alfa Romeo explored a radical concept for Group B rallying: the Sprint 6C.
Although the project never reached competition, it revealed a compelling idea — how far the Alfa Sprint platform could be pushed.
The Alma Sprint builds on that idea.
Retaining the original front-wheel-drive layout, the car reimagines the Sprint with contemporary engineering and a relentless focus on lightness and driver engagement.
DESIGN
The Sprint 6c prototypes were originally designed and manufactured by Zagato. However, Alma took a more detailed approach and made extensive modifications to the design. Starting by refining the surfaces, giving the fenders a more muscular appearance, and ensuring seamless transitions between the panels. The front and rear bumpers were redesigned to blend perfectly with the overfenders, drawing inspiration from cars such as the Lancia 037 and the Maserati Shamal. The result is a completely unique bodywork created mostly from composite materials. The front is dominated by the latest technology Hella projectors integrated into a billet aluminium housing, while the redesigned Vitaloni mirrors perfectly blend with the side profile.
The interior of the car has undergone significant changes in both design and ergonomics, blending the 80s rally style with refinement and safety. The driving position has been improved by the addition of new seats and a relocated steering wheel. The Zagato designed steering wheel and a bespoke aluminium gear selector domain the interior, fully retrimmed in Alcantara and corduroy fabric. Most of the touching faces are now aluminium, and the whole package is finished with 4-point Sabelt harnesses and a Bluetooth speaker ensure the connectivity needs.
TECHNICAL
The Alma Sprint relies on a re-engineered version of Alfa Romeo's 4-cylinder boxer engine, bored to 1800cc. The engine features redesigned heads, forged pistons, custom camshafts and valvetrain, a stainless-steel exhaust system and a revised lubrication circuit. To keep it light and raw, the engine is fed by a pair of Dellorto carburettors with velocity stacks and develops 160 horsepower in the fast road spec. The power is transmitted to the front wheels through a close-ratio 5-speed manual gearbox, and a Torsen LSD is available. The chassis setup utilises redesigned front and rear suspension, taking advantage of the wider track, with adjustable dampers and reworked geometry. Finally, the brakes were upgraded with larger vented discs and motorsport-grade components. The Alma Sprint tips the scale at just 880 Kg.
The Alma Sprint provides an exceptional driving experience coupled with a striking design. It will be produced in a limited run of 20 units.
